If there is something in this world I love more than animals, it has to be books. I think it is safe to say that books were my first love. Certainly nothing maintains my attention like books do. I truly forget where I am, what is going on around me, even who I am when I am immersed in a good book. If you don't know what I'm talking about, you have my sincere pity.
When it comes to books, I will read almost anything if I am desperate enough. I prefer science fiction and fantasy in general, though I have recently branched out into horror and murder mysteries. The factor I most enjoy in a book is the ability to make me think, to provoke me, or to change my view of the world. Any book that presents a new idea that I ponder even momentarily is fine by me. It is so rare to find a truly different perspective. I welcome any recommendations that fit this description!
Along those lines, here are some books that rocked my world. Love them or hate them, but they will shake you up.
- The Merro Tree by Katie Waitman
- The DaVinci Code by Dan Brown
- Ender's Game by Orson Scott Card
- Otherworld Trilogy by Tad Williams
- Six Questions of Socrates by Christopher Phillips (nonfiction)
My Wish List
These are books that I would love to read someday.
- By the Light of the Moon by Dean Koontz
- The Wolf of Winter by Paula Volsky
- After 40 Years: Alice Kline Talks About Chinchillas
